梵語  evaṃ tarhi dravyataḥ saptadaśa dhātavo bhavanti dvādaśa vā ṣaḍvijñānadhātumanodhātūnām itaretarāntar bhāvā diti kasmād aṣṭādāśa vyavasthāpyante /
真諦譯  若爾,實物唯十七界或十二界。何以故?六識界及與意界互相攝故。若爾,雲何安立為十八界?
玄奘譯  若爾,實界應唯十七或唯十二,六識與意更相攝故。何緣得立十八界耶?
英譯  Objection: - In case the six cognitions,that make six dhātus,constitute the manas; in case manas is a thing not different from the six cognitions,we shall have either seventeen dhātus,by excluding the manas,that merely duplicates the work of six dognitions,or twelve dhātus,by excluding the six cognitions that merely duplicate the work of manas-we assume that you want to enumerate the things that are distinct and not merely the simple disignations. The dhātus are enumerated as eighteen.
現代漢語釋  如果是這樣,那麼實物界應只有十七界或者十二界,因為六識和意根互相包含統攝的緣故。依據什麼立了十八界呢?
