真諦譯	或說來增義，能增長心及心法來。
玄奘譯	訓釋詞者：謂能生長心、心所法故名為處，是能生長彼作用義。
英譯	Etymologically，one calls āyatanas that which extend (tanvanti) the arrival (āya) of the mind-stuff and of the mentals. [Vyākhyā 45，4].
現代漢語釋	語源上指能使心及心所法增長，因此名叫處，是能使它們生長的意思。
